Spend Two Minutes With Israel Every Month

The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism has undertaken a major new effort to provide affiliated synagogues with information, support, and programming suggestions about Israel, through its Israel Commission.

Having launched an effort last year to have every North American congregation identify an Israel Affairs liaison, USCJ is now following up by instituting a program to make Israel a presence at congregational board meetings through the preparation and distribution of a "two-minute Israel spot".

Rabbi Paul Freedman, USCJ Director of Israel Affairs, will prepare the brief announcements to be read at congregational board meetings. The two-minute purely apolitical talks about Israel will be distributed monthly on such topics as "Falling in Love with Israel Again," "What Is On a Typical Israeli's Mind?" and "What's New in the Conservative/Masorti Movement in Israel?" Longer length versions of these spots may be found on the Israel Commission's electronic magazine, "Today's Israel", which is available at www.todaysisrael.com.
